Structuro 250 is a new generation admixture with a high water-reducing power that provides high performance concretes at all ages.

Structuro 250 is particularly suitable for the manufacture of concretes with a low A/C ratio. Used at the same consistency, it allows a strong reduction of mixing water and thus obtains high mechanical strengths in the short and long term. Its hardening accelerating effect is particularly beneficial for formwork stripping at early ages.

Standards

Structuro 250 complies with UNE-EN 934-2:2010 Tables 3.1. and 3.2. as a high activity water reducer/superplasticizer.

Typical dosage

The optimum dosage of Structuro 250 to achieve specific requirements should be determined by tests using the materials and conditions with which it will be tested in practice.

This dosage may range from 0.3 to 2% s.p.c., bearing in mind that maximum dosage may cause slight setting delays. A dosage of 0.5% by weight of cement can be used as a starting point.

Properties

The following results were obtained at a temperature of 20ºC:

• Appearance: Light brown liquid.
• Density: 1.065 ± 0.02 kg/L
• pH: 6.0 ± 1.0
• Water-soluble chloride content (CI-): ≤ 0.10%.
• Alkali content (Na2O equivalent): max. 2% by mass
• Primary function: Water reduction
• Secondary function: Increasing initial and final strengths

Mode of use

Mixing design

Once the appropriate dosage has been selected, care should be taken to ensure the consistency of the materials used and the mixing and distribution processes.

Compatibility

Structuro 250 is compatible only with the superplasticizers of the Fosroc Euco range if the lowest possible w/c ratio is to be maintained. If more than one admixture is used, they should be added to the concrete separately and not mixed together prior to being added. The resulting properties of concrete containing more than one admixture should be checked by prior testing.

Structuro 250 is suitable for use with all cements complying with the RC-08 standard.

Dosing system

The correct amount of Structuro 250 should be measured using a suitable dosing system. For best results, the admixture should be added to the concrete in the mixing water or directly in the mixer. In this case, increase the setting time. Contact Fosroc Euco's Technical Department for advice on the appropriate dosing equipment and its installation.

Effects of overdosage

An overdosage of twice the maximum dosage indicated may cause delayed setting of the concrete as well as additional air occlusion.

Curing

As with all structural concrete, good curing must be achieved, particularly in situations where overdosing has occurred. A Fosroc Euco Concure type curing membrane, water (sprayed) or wet burlap should be used.

Clean up and disposal

Spills of Structuro 250 should be absorbed with sand or earth and transferred to appropriate containers. Product residues should be flushed away with a large amount of water. Disposal of the product and packaging is the responsibility of the end user.

Storage

Structuro 250 has a storage period of 12 months if kept in a dry place and in its original and closed containers at a temperature between 2ºC and 40ºC. The color of the additive may vary over time, without affecting the properties of the additive.

Safety and Hygiene

Structuro 250 should not be ingested or put in contact with skin and eyes. Wear protective gloves and goggles. Splashes on the skin should be washed off with water. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. If swallowed, seek immediate medical attention. Do not induce vomiting.
