Conplast WP409 is a chloride-free liquid additive for the production of waterproof concrete and mortar.
Uses
- Sewage treatment plants
- Channels
- Power stations
- Hydraulic works
- Pipelines for water conduction
- Swimming pools
- Underground concrete walls
- In general, all types of concrete and mortar that must be in contact with water.
Advantages
- Gives properties of water-repellent cement and mortars.
- Increases waterproofing due to its water-repellent action.
- Effectively reduces capillary water absorption.
- Maintains unchanged setting time.
- Significantly increases the durability of concrete and mortar parts.
Standards
Conplast WP409 complies with UNE-EN 934-2:2010 Table 8 as a setting retarder.
Typical dosage
The optimum dosage of Conplast WP409 to achieve specific requirements should be determined by tests, using the materials and conditions that will be used in practice.
A starting point for such tests is to use a dosage between 0.5 and 2.0 % by weight of cement.
Properties
The following results were obtained at a temperature of 20°C:
- Appearance: White liquid
- Density: 1,03 ± 0,01 kg/l
- pH: 11 ± 1,0
- Water soluble chloride content (CI-): ≤ 0,10%.
- Alkali content (Na2O equivalent): max. 2 % by mass
- Primary function: Waterproofing
- Secondary function: Increasing durability
Mode of application
Remarks
When producing waterproof concrete, the following points should be observed:
- Correct granulometric curve.
- Minimum w/c ratio.
- Sufficient cement dosage.
- Mixing time.
- Curing and strength of the concrete.
Compatibility
Conplast WP409 is compatible with other Fosroc Euco admixtures used in the same concrete mix. If more than one admixture is used, they must be added to the concrete separately and not mixed together prior to being added. The resulting properties of concrete containing more than one admixture must be checked by prior testing.
Conplast WP409 is suitable for use with all cements complying with RC-08.
Dosing system
The correct amount of Conplast WP409 should be measured by means of a recommended dosing system. Normally the admixture is added to the concrete together with the mixing water, in order to obtain the best results. Contact the Fosroc Euco Technical Department for advice on suitable equipment and installation.
Effects of overdosage
Overdosing does not have any negative effect on the final qualities of the concrete.
Curing
The final characteristics of any structural concrete will depend on good curing practice. It is therefore very important to use a curing membrane such as Fosroc Euco Concure, water spray or wet burlap.
Clean-up and disposal
Spills of Conplast WP409 should be absorbed with sand or earth and transferred to suitable containers. Product residues should be flushed away with a large amount of water. Disposal of the product and packaging is the responsibility of the end user.
Storage
Conplast WP409 has a storage period of 6 months if kept in a dry place and in its original, closed containers at a temperature between 5ºC and 30ºC.
Freezing point: -3 ºC approx.
The frozen product should be thawed slowly and stirred afterwards (do not thaw directly).
Precautions
Safety and hygiene
