Conplast SP366 is a high performance, chloride-free, multi-range plasticising additive with superplasticising effect, based on a blend of specially selected organic polymers. It is supplied as a solution that instantly disperses in water.
Conplast SP366 disperses the fine particles in the mix, enabling the water content in the concrete to act more effectively.
Uses
- To significantly reduce the water in a concrete mix, without reducing workability and to provide an increase in early and ultimate strengths without additional cement.
- To significantly improve the workability of concrete without increasing the amount of water.
- To achieve concretes with a low water/cement ratio and high maintenance of workability.
- To reduce concrete permeability and therefore water penetration and increase durability.
Advantages
- Used in the production of flowable concrete, it allows faster placement and compaction and cost reduction.
- Reduced water/cement ratio increases durability, producing a low permeability concrete.
- Chloride-free, suitable for use in prestressed and reinforced concrete.
Standards
Conplast SP366 complies with UNE-EN 934-2:2010 Tables 3.1 and 3.2 as a high activity water-reducing / superplasticising admixture.
Typical dosage
The optimum dosage of Conpalst SP366 to achieve specific requirements should be determined by testing using the materials and conditions that will be used in practice.
Typical dosage will range from 0.5 to 1.6 litres/100 kg of cementitious material.
Where a combination of results is required, such as increased workability together with reduced water content, combination with other Fosroc Euco admixtures may be considered.
Properties
The following results were obtained at a temperature of 20°C:
- Appearance: Dark brown liquid
- Density: 1,220 ± 0,01 kg/l
- pH: 3,5 ± 1,0
- Water soluble chloride content (CI-): ≤ 0,10%.
- Alkali content (Na2O equivalent): max. 5 % by mass
- Primary function: To increase workability
- Secondary function: Delay the setting time
Mode of use
Mix design
When the intention is to improve strength, initial tests should be carried out with normal concrete mixes. The addition of admixture allows water to be removed from the mix, while maintaining workability at the levels obtained before the use of admixture. After initial testing, minimal modifications should be made to the overall mix design to optimise results.
When the primary intention is to provide high workability concrete, the initial mix design should be that of pumped concrete.
In a proper flowable concrete mix, the better dispersion of the cement particles and the more efficient use of the mixing water will improve the cohesion of the mix. The slight air occlusion obtained with Conplast SP366 will help to minimise exudation and segregation. After initial trials, minimal modifications should be made to the mix to optimise results.
Compatibility
Conplast SP366 is compatible with other Fosroc Euco admixtures used in the same concrete mix.
All admixtures to be added to concrete containing more than one admixture should be tested to ensure that no such effects, such as undesirable setting delay, occur.
Conplast SP366 is suitable for use with all RC-08 compliant cements.
Dosing system
The correct amount of Conplast SP366 should be measured using a suitable dosing system. Normally, the additive is added with the mixing water for best results. Contact Fosroc Euco's Technical Department for advice on suitable equipment and installation.
Effects of overdosage
An overdosage of twice the maximum dosage indicated may cause delayed setting of the concrete as well as additional air entrapment.
Curing
As with all structural concrete, good curing must be achieved, particularly in situations where an overdose has occurred. Fosroc Euco Concure, water (sprayed) or wet burlap should be used as a curing membrane.
Clean-up and disposal
Spills of Conplast SP366 can be absorbed with sand or earth and transferred to suitable containers. Remnants should be flushed away with large quantities of water. Disposal of the product and packaging is the responsibility of the end user.
Storage
Conplast SP366 has a storage period of 12 months provided it is kept at a temperature between 2°C and 40°C.
Freezing point: -3 ºC approx.
Precautions
Safety and Hygiene
Conplast SP366 should not be swallowed or come into contact with skin and eyes. Wear suitable protective gloves and goggles. Splashes on the skin should be washed off with water. In case of contact with eyes, rinse with plenty of water and seek medical advice. If swallowed, seek immediate medical attention. Do not induce vomiting.
For further information, please refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet.
Fire
Conplast SP366 is water based and non-flammable.
