Conplast R1 is a colourless liquid based on organic acids that provides a setting delay for shotcrete.
Uses
- Conplast R1 is designed to maintain the workability of wet sprayed concrete until application.
- Shotcrete delayed with Conplast R1 can be accelerated after the delay time by using Sprayset AL or Sprayset HBL44 liquid accelerator.
Advantages
- Controlled retardation extends the workability period and setting time.
- Compatible with all types of cement.
- Chloride-free, can be used in prestressed and reinforced concrete.
Standards
Conplast R1 complies with UNE-EN 934-2:2010 +A1 Table 8 as a setting retarder.
Typical dosage
The optimum dosage of Conplast R1 to achieve specific requirements should be determined by testing, using the materials and conditions that will be used in practice.
A starting point for such trials is to use a dosage between 0.2 and 0.5 litres of Conplast R1 per 100 kg of cementitious material, including ash, slag or microsilica.
Laboratory tests have shown that at a dosage of 0.5 %, the concrete remains workable for more than 8 hours.
Properties
The following results were obtained at a temperature of 20°C:
- Appearance: Yellowish liquid.
- Density: 1,213 ± 0,01 kg/l
- pH: < 2,0
- Water soluble chloride content (CI-): ≤ 0,10%.
- Alkali content (Na2O equivalent): max. 5 mass %.
Directions for use
Compatibility
Conplast R1 is compatible with other Fosroc admixtures used in the same concrete mix. If more than one admixture is used, they must be added to the concrete separately and not mixed together prior to addition. The resulting properties of concrete containing more than one admixture must be checked by prior testing.
Conplast R1 is suitable for use with all cements complying with RC-08.
Effects of an overdose
An overdose of twice the amount of Conplast R1 may result in air locking which tends to reduce strength. The degree of this effect will depend on the particular mix and the level of overdosing.
Mixing
The admixture should be added to the concrete with the mixing water for best results.
Curing
The final characteristics of any structural concrete will depend on good curing practice. It is therefore very important to use a Fosroc Euco Concure curing membrane, water spray or wet burlap.
Storage
Conplast R1 has a maximum storage period of 12 months, provided it is kept at a temperature between 2 ºC and 50 ºC. If the temperature exceeds this range, contact Fosroc Technical Department.
Precautions
Safety and Hygiene
Conplast R1 must not be ingested or come into contact with skin and eyes. Wear protective gloves and goggles. Splashes on the skin should be washed off with water. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. If swallowed, seek immediate medical attention. Do not induce vomiting.
