Conplast SD100 is specially formulated to give optimum results in semi-dry concrete. It is also suitable as a plasticiser, water reducer in all types of concrete. It is supplied as a brown solution that disperses instantly in water.

Conplast SD100 disperses the fine particles in the mix and produces a more fluid concrete that fills the moulds. This increases the production process, improving pressing and reducing initial and final vibration times. The increased dispersion also improves the strength and surface finish of the final product.

Uses

  • For improving the quality and consistency of semi-dry concrete products: blocks, kerbstones, vaults, pipes, etc.
  • To increase the strength of the finished product without increasing the cement content.
  • Facilitates the operation of the machine, making it faster and smoother.
  • As a plasticiser for concrete and mortar.

Advantages

  • Increased early and late strengths, without additional cement.
  • Strengths are maintained with lower cement contents.
  • Improves early strength, minimising the risk of cracking.
  • Improved mix rheology, smoothing machine operation with reduced cycle times.
  • Improves part uniformity, reducing standard drift and improving part dimensional control and improving part dimensional control.

Standards

Conplast SD100 complies with UNE-EN 934-2:2010 Table 2 as a water reducer/plasticiser.

Typical dosage

The optimum dosage of Conplast SD100 will always be determined by tests carried out using the materials and conditions that will be used in practice. This allows optimisation of additive dosage, mix design and equipment assembly and provides a full evaluation of the final product.

As a starting point, a dosage of between 0.1 to 0.6 litres/100 kg of cementitious material, including fly ash, slag and microsilica, can be used.

Use in other dosages

Dosages outside the normal range above may be used if necessary and appropriate to achieve a particular mix, provided that adequate supervision is available. Test mixtures should be checked for compliance with the required standards. In such cases, contact the Fosroc Euco Technical Department.

Properties

The following results were obtained at a temperature of 20ºC:

  • Appearance: Dark brown liquid
  • Density: 1,155 ± 0,01 kg/l
  • pH: 3,0 ± 1,0
  • Water soluble chloride content (CI-): ≤ 0,10%.
  • Alkali content (Na2O equivalent): max. 5 % by mass
  • Primary function: Decrease water content
  • Secondary function: Improve surface finish

Mode of application

Compatibility

Conplast SD100 is compatible with other Fosroc Euco admixtures used in the same concrete mix. If more than one admixture is used, they should be added to the concrete separately and not mixed together before being added. The resulting properties of concrete containing more than one admixture must be checked by prior testing.

Conplast SD100 is suitable for use with all cements complying with RC-08.

Dosage

The correct amount of Conplast SD100 should be measured out using a suitable dosing device and then sprayed onto the concrete mix.

Spraying ensures more effective dispersion in semi-dry concrete.

Contact Fosroc Euco's Technical Department for advice on the appropriate metering equipment and its installation. It can also be added together with the mixing water.

Effects of overdosage

An overdosage of twice the quantity of Conplast SD100 will result in excessive workability, making the mixture too workable for use. Delayed setting and a reduction in early strength is likely to occur.

Curing

Normal curing procedures for semi-dry concretes should be maintained.

Clean up and disposal

Spills of Conplast SD100 should be absorbed with sand or earth and transferred to suitable containers. Remaining product should be flushed away with a large quantity of water. Disposal of the product and packaging is the responsibility of the end user.

Limitations

Conplast SD100 is most effective for use with block making equipment that transmits intense vibration during compaction. Similarly, if the aggregate pile is very wet. Improved water effectiveness may result in excessive workability. In such situations, contact the Fosroc Euco Technical Department.

Storage

Conplast SD100 has a storage period of 12 months if kept in a dry place and in its original and closed containers at a temperature between 2ºC and 40ºC.

Freezing point: -3 ºC approx.

Precautions

Safety and Hygiene

Conplast SD100 is alkaline and irritant and should not be ingested or put in contact with skin and eyes. Wear protective gloves and goggles. Splashes on the skin should be washed off with water. In case of contact with eyes, flush with plenty of water and seek medical advice. If swallowed, seek immediate medical attention. Do not induce vomiting.

For further information, please refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet.

Fire

Conplast SD100 is water based and non-flammable.
