Advantages
Standards
Retamor 11, 12, 13 and 14 comply with the UNE-EN 934-3:2010 standard as air/plasticiser embedding agents.
Retamor 21, 23, 24, 25 and 26 comply with UNE-EN 934-3:2010 as setting retarders.
Usual dosage
The dosage of Retamor 11, 12, 13 and 14 aerators varies to obtain ideal characteristics in a mortar, usually varying between 0.30 and 0.7 litres per 100 kg of cement.
The optimum dosage of Retamor 21, 23, 24, 25 and 26 stabilisers is between 0.3 and 1.6 litres per 100 kg of cement.
When using ash or microsilica in the mix, the additive dosage should take into account the total cementitious material. Pre-testing will allow the ideal dosages to be determined in each case.

Instructions for use
Workability
The initial workability of a retarded mortar is an important factor in achieving the desired workability retention characteristics.
Storage of mixed mortar
Once manufactured, the mixed mortar should be protected from moisture loss. It is recommended to store in non-porous containers with an adjustable closing lid. If evaporation occurs, the mortar may form a crust.
Compatibility
Retamor admixtures are compatible with other Fosroc Euco admixtures used in the same mortar mix. If more than one additive is used, they should be added to the mixture separately and not mixed together before being added. The resulting properties of the mixture containing more than one additive should be checked by prior testing. Retamor admixtures are suitable for use with all cements complying with RC-08.
Dosing system
The correct amount of aerator and retarder should be measured by means of a dosing system recommended for each use. Add the additive to the mixing water for best results.
Effects of overdosage
Overdosing by twice the added quantity of Retamor 11, 12 13 and 14 may result in a significant increase of air in the mortar, which will increase its workability and reduce its strength.
Overdosing by twice the amount of Retamor 21, 23, 24, 25 and 26 may result in a significant increase in retardation relative to that normally obtained at the intended dosage. Overdosage will also tend to increase the plasticising effect of the additive. The degree to which the mortar may be affected will depend on the particular mix design and the level of overdosage.
Curing
As with all cementitious systems, adequate curing should be sought and is particularly important when using the mortar for plastering.
Clean up and disposal
Spillage of Retamor admixtures should be absorbed with sand or earth and transferred to suitable containers. Product residues should be flushed away with a large quantity of water. Disposal of the product and packaging is the responsibility of the end user.
Storage
Retamor additives have a storage period of 12 months if kept in dry conditions in their original, sealed containers at a temperature between 2ºC and 40ºC. The recommended storage period for bulk storage is 6 months, although the product may be stored for longer depending on storage conditions. In case of doubt, please contact the Fosroc Euco Technical Department.
Precautions
Safety and hygiene
Retamor has a low level of toxicity. Avoid contact with skin and eyes, or inhalation of the dust. Wear suitable protective clothing, gloves, eye/face protection and mask.
If skin contact has occurred, wash with plenty of clean water. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of clean water and seek medical attention. In case of accidental ingestion, seek immediate medical attention. Do not induce vomiting.
For further information, please refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet.
Fire
Retamor aerators and retarders are water based and non-flammable.
