Auramix 240 is a multifunctional, high-end plasticiser based on synthetic polymers for ready-mixed concrete with high water-reducing and cement particle dispersing properties. It maintains the workability of concrete longer than conventional plasticisers.

Advantages

• Reduces permeability and water penetration in concrete.
• Strong water reduction: between 15 and 20% depending on the dosages used.
• The incorporation of new synthesis molecules notably improves the appearance and compactness of the concrete.
• It provides water-repellent properties to the concrete.
• The plasticising effect is maintained, even in hot climates.
• Minimises concrete shrinkage as it allows working with lower water/cement ratios.

Standards

Auramix 240 complies with UNE-EN 934-2:2010 Table 2 as a water reducer/plasticiser.

Typical dosage

To be determined by tests using the materials and conditions to be tested in practice. As a starting point for such tests is to use a dosage of 0.3-1.1 litres per 100 kg of cementitious material, including ash, slag or microsilica.

Properties

The following results were obtained at a temperature of 20ºC:

• Appearance: light golden liquid
• Density: 1,06 ± 0,01 kg/l
• pH: 9,5 ± 1,0
• Water soluble chloride content (CI-): ≤ 0,10%.
• Alkali content (Na2O equivalent): max. 5 % by mass
• Primary function: To increase workability
• Secondary function: Increase mechanical strength

Mode of use

Mixing design

Once the appropriate dosage has been selected, care must be taken to ensure the consistency of the materials used and the mixing and spreading processes.

Compatibility

Auramix 240 is compatible with other Fosroc Euco admixtures used in the same concrete mix. If more than one admixture is used, they must be added to the concrete separately and not mixed together prior to being added. The resulting properties of concrete containing more than one admixture must be checked by prior testing.

Auramix 240 is suitable for use with all cements complying with RC-08.

Dosing system

The correct amount of Auramix 240 should be measured by means of a suitable dosing system. For best results, the admixture should be added to the concrete in the mixing water or directly into the mixer at the same time as the water. Contact the Fosroc Euco Technical Department for advice on the appropriate dosing equipment and its installation.

Effects of overdosage

An overdosage of twice the maximum dosage indicated may cause a delay in the setting of the concrete as well as an additional air lock.

Curing

The final characteristics of any structural concrete will depend on good curing practice. It is therefore very important to use a Fosroc Euco Concure curing membrane, water spray or wet burlap.

Clean-up and disposal

Spillage of Auramix 240 should be absorbed with sand or earth and transferred to suitable containers. Product residues should be flushed away with a large quantity of water. Disposal of the product and packaging is the responsibility of the end user.

Storage

Can be stored for 12 months if kept in a dry place and in its original, closed containers at a temperature between 2ºC and 40ºC.

Freezing point: -3 ºC approx.

Precautions

Safety and hygiene

Avoid ingestion or contact with skin and eyes. Wear protective gloves and goggles. Splashes on skin should be washed off with water. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice.

If swallowed, seek immediate medical attention. Do not induce vomiting.
