Multifunctional, high-end, multifunctional plasticising liquid admixture based on synthetic and natural polymers for ready-mixed concrete, with high water-reducing and cement particle dispersing properties.

Uses

• To obtain a concrete of quality, compactness, durability and resistance.
• To achieve a maintenance of the workability of the concrete superior to that obtainable with conventional plasticisers.
• To obtain a concrete with excellent workability by reducing the proportion of mixing water and improving workability.

Advantages

• Strong water reduction: between 15 and 25% depending on the dosages used.
• The plasticising effect is maintained, even in hot climates.
• The incorporation of new synthetic molecules significantly improves the appearance and compactness of the concrete.

Standards

Auramix 270 complies with UNE-EN 934-2:2010 Table 2 as a water reducer/plasticiser.

Typical dosage

The optimum dosage of Auramix 270 to achieve specific requirements should be determined by trials using the materials and conditions with which it will be tested in practice.

A starting point for such trials is to use a dosage rate of 0.5-1.2 litres per 100 kg of cementitious material, including ash, slag or microsilica.

Properties

The following results were obtained at a temperature of 20ºC:

• Appearance: Light brown liquid
• Density: 1,07 ± 0,01 kg/l
• pH: 6,5 ± 1,0
• Water soluble chloride content (CI-): ≤ 0,10%.
• Alkali content (Na2O equivalent): max. 6 % by mass
• Primary function: To increase workability
• Secondary function: Increase mechanical strength

Mode of use

Mixing design

Once the appropriate dosage has been selected, care must be taken to ensure the consistency of the materials used and the mixing and spreading processes.

Compatibility

Compatible with other Fosroc Euco admixtures used in the same concrete mix. If more than one admixture is used, they should be added to the concrete separately and not mixed together prior to being added. The resulting properties of concrete containing more than one admixture must be checked by prior testing.

Suitable for use with all cements complying with the RC-08 standard.

Dosing system

The correct quantity of admixture should be measured by means of a suitable dosing system. For best results, the admixture should be added to the concrete in the mixing water or directly into the mixer at the same time as the water. Contact the Fosroc Euco Technical Department for advice on the appropriate dosing equipment and its installation.

Effects of overdosage

An overdose of twice the maximum dosage indicated may cause delayed setting of the concrete as well as additional air entrapment.

Curing

The final properties of any structural concrete will depend on good curing practice. It is therefore very important to use a Fosroc Euco Concure curing membrane, water spray or wet burlap.

Cleaning and disposal

Any spillage of Auramix 270 should be absorbed with sand or earth and transferred to suitable containers. Product residues should be flushed away with a large quantity of water. Disposal of the product and packaging is the responsibility of the end user.

Storage

Storage is possible for 12 months if kept in a dry place and in its original, closed containers at a temperature between 2ºC and 40ºC.

Freezing point: -3 ºC approx.

Precautions

Safety and hygiene

Never ingest or come into contact with skin and eyes. Wear protective gloves and goggles. Splashes on skin should be washed off with water. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice.

If swallowed, seek immediate medical attention. Do not induce vomiting.
