Conplast X400 is a chloride-free liquid additive for the production of water-repellent waterproof concrete. It is a product with a slight plasticising effect, based on a combination of lignosulphonates and synthetic polymers.

Uses

• For sewage treatment plants, canals.
• Power stations, hydraulic works.
• Water pipes, swimming pools.
• Underground concrete walls.
• In general, all types of concrete that must be in contact with water.
• For any type of cementitious mortar.

Advantages

• Gives properties of mortars and water-repellent cement.
• Slightly increases the final compressive strength of concrete or mortar.
• Accelerates the transformation of open capillary porosity into closed capillary porosity.
• The passage of moisture and capillary water is interrupted by a slight introduction of air.
• The shrinkage of the concrete is lower and the risk of cracking is reduced.
• The setting time remains unchanged.

Standards

Conplast X400 complies with UNE-EN 934-2:2010 Table 9 as a mass water-repellent.

Usual dosage

As a starting point, between 0.1 and 0.5 % by weight of cement in both concrete and mortar.

Properties

The following results were obtained at a temperature of 20°C:

• Appearance: Brown liquid
• Density: 1,022 ± 0,007 kg/l
• pH: 8,5 ± 1,0
• Water soluble chloride content (CI-): ≤ 0,10%.
• Alkali content (Na2O equivalent): max. 2 mass %.
• Primary function: Waterproofing
• Secondary function: Increasing durability

Mode of application

Remarks

When producing waterproof concrete, the following points should be observed:

• - Correct granulometric curve.
• - Minimum w/c ratio.
• - Sufficient cement dosage.
• - Mixing time.
• - Curing and strength of the concrete.

Compatibility

Conplast X400 is compatible with other Fosroc Euco admixtures used in the same concrete mix. If more than one admixture is used, they must be added to the concrete separately and not mixed together before being added. The resulting properties of concrete containing more than one admixture must be checked by prior testing.

Conplast X400 is suitable for use with all cements complying with RC-08.

Dosing system

The correct quantity of Conplast X400 must be measured by means of a suitable dosing system. The admixture should be added to the concrete mix at the end, after the rest of the components have been mixed.

Contact Fosroc Euco's Technical Department for advice on the appropriate dosing equipment and its installation.

Effects of overdosage

Overdosing does not have any negative effect on the final qualities of the concrete.

Curing

The final characteristics of any structural concrete will depend on good curing practice. It is therefore very important to use a curing membrane such as Fosroc Euco Concure, water spray or wet burlap.

Clean-up and disposal

Spills of Conplast X400 should be absorbed with sand or earth and transferred to suitable containers. Product residues should be flushed away with a large amount of water. Disposal of the product and packaging is the responsibility of the end user.

Storage

Conplast X400 has a storage period of 12 months if kept in a dry place and in its original, closed containers at a temperature between 2ºC and 40ºC.

Freezing point: -3 ºC approx.

The frozen product should be thawed slowly and stirred afterwards (do not thaw directly).

Precautions

Safety and hygiene

Conplast X400 is alkaline and irritant and must not be swallowed or come into contact with skin and eyes. Wear protective gloves and goggles. Splashes on the skin should be washed off with water. In case of contact with eyes, flush with plenty of water and seek medical advice. If swallowed, seek immediate medical attention. Do not induce vomiting.
